German Bundestag – Left calls for more co-determination of patient representation

Berlin: (hib/PK) The left-wing faction calls for more co-determination for patients in the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA). The patient representatives still have no voting rights in factual issues in the G-BA. Instead, the representatives of health insurance companies, panel (dentist) doctors and hospitals, as well as independent experts who would be proposed by these organizations, decided on what services the patients were entitled to, what quality standards apply or how many practice locations there may be in a region, it said in an application (20/7645) by the parliamentary group.

According to the MEPs, patient representatives should be given the right to nominate two of the three independent members of the G-BA.
