Berlin: (hib/PK) According to the federal government, a restructuring of medical studies is planned with the reform of the licensing regulations for doctors (ÄApprO). Clinical and theoretical training content should be linked from the beginning of the course. Practical tests are also planned, as stated in the federal government’s answer (20/10321) to a small question (20/10187) from the Union parliamentary group.
At the same time, according to the information, doctor-patient communication as well as interprofessional skills, but also digital and medical-scientific skills, should be taught more strongly during the course. The plan is to provide practical and patient-oriented training that is based on the latest developments and findings in research and care.
This is ensured primarily through the mandatory integration of the National Competency-Based Learning Objectives Catalog of Medicine (NKLM) into medical studies, the answer continues. According to the information, the states are involved in the reform of medical studies. The “Master Plan for Medical Studies 2020” was jointly approved by the federal and state governments in 2017.
The ÄApprO is in the final vote. The regulation will then be presented to the Federal Cabinet and sent to the Federal Council for a decision.
