The World Health Organization, in fact, has recently been pressing on an awareness campaign which aims to spread that “little is better than nothing”. But training, as we have seen, is not enough, it is also important to keep in mind some tips to improve our performance.

Here’s what the WHO advice is

The Organization recommends that all individuals of adult age pay attention to the periods in which they sit or lie down. The advice is to avoid staying in these positions for more than 30 minutes. Taking an “active break” and stretching with small movements is necessary.

You just need to stand up, walk a little or do some bodyweight exercises as you please. All this even for just 2-3 minutes, every 30 minutes of sedentary lifestyle.

Here, on the other hand, is what you risk if you lead an excessively sedentary life, again according to the WHO: poor physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle would decrease the capacity of our metabolism. This would increase the risks of developing cardiovascular disease or even diabetes, as a result of forms of insulin resistance.

According to the WHO, a sedentary lifestyle is the cause of about 3.2 million deaths a year, since many people who develop pathologies such as those indicated above, are found to have a sedentary life.

Therefore, we always remember that even a little is always better than nothing and that alternating states of inactivity with small activities can concretely make a difference for our health.
