General Motors manufactures Chevrolet brand vehicles in these two countries, but will now “transition to a national company model to support the launch of next-generation vehicles, including a world-class portfolio, supported by exceptional customer experience and after-sales services,” the American giant reported.

“The actions we announced today are essential to ensure that we are better positioned to offer our customers the most advanced vehicles and technologies, and drive the transformation of the industry in Colombia and Ecuador towards a zero-emissions future,” said the president of GM International, Shilpan Amin.

“The company understands the impact that this decision will have on the affected employees and we will support them during their transition,” the company added in this regard.
