“The actions we announced today are essential to ensure that we are better positioned to offer our customers the most advanced vehicles and technologies, and drive the transformation of the industry in Colombia and Ecuador towards a zero-emissions future,” said the president of GM International, Shilpan Amin.
Massive stripping and labor inspection
This will mean layoffs that could reach 800 people at the Colmotores plant, located in Bogotá, the only one where vehicles are manufactured in Colombia, according to unions.
“The company understands the impact that this decision will have on the affected employees and we will support them during their transition,” the company added in this regard.
