New cases of the so-called monkeypox. The World Health Organization is monitoring small reported outbreaks in the UK, Spain and Portugal. It is a virus belonging to the orthopoxvirus family, usually associated with travel in western Africa.
This disease usually causes mild illness that heals within a few weeks and incubation can usually last from 6 to 13 days. In some cases it has even reached 21. There are no specific medicines or vaccines to treat it. The hallmarks of this disease are a visible rash, fever, headache, body aches, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and fatigue. It is transmissible through close contact with body fluids and fluids from animals or people.
In UK Four additional cases have recently been reported, following the three reported on 7 May. The last four most recent would be reported in London.
