In recent years, the applications in medicine of new technologies related to artificial intelligence have been steadily increasing. They do not give superpowers, but computers are an increasingly fundamental support, useful both in the daily life of doctors – who use them as a diagnostic tool, or by feeding AI with data – and in the most desperate cases. For many doctors it is an opportunity to take medicine to a new dimension. Others, however, fear it. But what does AI really offer to medicine? Can it be useful in improving people’s lives? The new ARTE documentary tries to answer these questions.
