All these features are perfectly present in Kirby and the Lost Landthe first fully 3D game dedicated to the character, available for Nintendo Switch. Kirby and the Lost Land takes place outside the fairytale atmospheres of Dream Land and takes the player to extremely colorful and cartoonish settings, but somehow more decadent, almost post-apocalyptic, with the vegetation taking back its spaces. But how if the apocalypse had happened in the world of the Teletubbies.
Kirby and the Lost Land makes extensive use of the protagonist’s shape-shifting abilities, who will be able to absorb various types of attacks (12 in all) from opponents and even transform into some objects, exploiting their abilities to continue the adventure. For example, by absorbing some kind of knight he will be able use a swordif he does so with an enemy that resembles an explorer he will be able use his rifle to hit distant targets, if the adventure requires it, it can be transformed into a car, a huge staircase or a traffic cone, so as to jump and pierce the ground to discover secret ravines (or hit giant turtles).
Each level is full of small clear and secret objectives to complete to complete it at the maximum score (and of course you can try again, if the first attempt is not enough), which can be alternated with some bonus scenarios or visiting the city of the Waddle Dee, small creatures that must be released, to regain strength and enhance Kirby’s various abilities and transformations.

Kirby and the Lost Land it is a classic example of Nintendo’s artistic and playful path: there is not a corner of the world that is not taken care of to perfection, everything is cute, funny and fun and the various gameplay solutions are not simple trappings put there to make up numbers, but they manage to vary the path in an interesting way. It must be said that it’s not a particularly difficult game to complete: there are a couple of steps that require a minimum of coordination, finding all the secrets will require you to sharpen your eyes and defeating some bosses could be complex but if you are looking for a title suitable for the little ones or you want to have fun without sweating too much, Kirby and the Lost Land it’s the perfect game.
However, despite its simplicity, the game maintains a high degree of entertainment: it will be for the many different ideas, it will be the cheerful atmosphere, it will be that not all games and not all players have to be forged in fire of a thousand difficulties. Even the formal perfection and the iron discipline of Super Mario’s jumps seem distant, but that’s okay. Because Sometimes you just want to be a smiling pink ball who wants to free friends in a colorful world where the most serious threats are pink porcupines. And for once, the great, epic and very difficult battles of Elden Ring can wait.
