Law on caregivers, here’s who’s on the technical table

The “Technical table for the analysis and definition of useful elements for a state law on family caregivers” was established yesterday at the Ministry for Disabilities, established by the Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli and the Minister of Labor and Social Policies Marina Cauldron.

Over the next six months the Table will work to formulate proposals on which a next bill for the recognition of the role played by the family caregiveridentify and quantify the audience of beneficiaries of a law on family caregivers, identify the role of the caregiver within an integrated care system of the person with disabilities. A long-awaited law, which has been discussed in Parliament several times in past legislatures, without ever reaching the goal. The caregiver theme – currently in the eye of the storm in Lombardy due to cuts in monetary contributions, with a portion of the resources shifted to direct assistance – had also been removed from the reform of assistance for non-self-sufficient elderly people to dedicate a law to it hoc.

The minister Alessandra Locatelli he said that «the objective is to soon arrive at a regulatory framework with a proposal that can offer relief, including with tax breaks, and in particular accompany the care tasks of cohabiting family caregivers. The time has come to unite the different perspectives on the topic and guarantee a unique and transversally shared path.”

The establishing decree table is coordinated by the Head of the Legislative Office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies and by the Head of the Legislative Office of the Minister for Disabilities or their delegate and is made up of experts appointed by the Minister for Disabilities; four experts appointed by the Minister of Labor and Social Policies; a representative of the Ministry of Health; a representative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance; a representative of the Ministry for the Family, Birthplace and Equal Opportunities; a representative of INPS; a representative of Istat; a representative of Inail.

The associations and federations called to the table

As for the associations and federations, there are two representatives on the table Fish; two representatives of Found; a representative of theAnffas; a representative of the Coordination Confed; a representative of National Third Sector Forum; a representative of Swan; a representative of Let’s unite-Italian Federation of Rare Diseases; a representative of Parkinson Italy Confederation Onlus; a representative of theItalian Association of Young Parkinsonians Onlus; a representative of Honeycomb; a representative of Anteas; a representative of isolate; a representative of Aism; a representative of Alzheimer’s Federation Italy; a representative of theItalian Alzheimer’s Disease Association; a representative of Active Citizenship-National coordination of chronically ill associations; a representative of Federcasalinghe; a representative designated by each of the CGIL, CISL, UIL and UGL trade union confederations; a representative of a Northern region, a representative of a Central region and a representative of the Southern regions, designated by the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces. Participation in the work of the Table is free of charge.
