Students at Liceo Scientifico Galileo Galilei in Siena took a stand against years of inaction regarding the unusable gym at their school. Staging a protest, members of Blocco Studentesco posted signs with the names of those responsible for the situation and hung a banner denouncing the Province, the Municipality, and the school presidency.
The students highlighted the fact that the gym at the Galileo Galilei scientific and sports high school has been unusable for the past nine years, forcing them to carry out physical activity in other schools. This situation has been deemed unacceptable by the student group, especially considering the focus on sports education at the school.
According to a press release from Blocco Studentesco, the Ministry allocated approximately 380 thousand euros for the planning of the work on the gym, but the project never started. The students expressed frustration with the lack of progress and accused the authorities of engaging in contracts and subcontracts that have ultimately led to nothing.
In response to the ongoing issue, the students demanded clarity from the competent authorities regarding when the gym at the Galileo Galilei high school will finally be made available for student use. This demonstration serves as a call to action for those in charge to address and resolve the long-standing problem.
