Is the legalization of cannabis under certain conditions dangerous or long overdue? What awaits parents, doctors, police officers and addiction counselors? What other changes will there be to the proposed law? Interested citizens and those affected discuss these and other questions with experts from politics, science and law at “Fakt ist! From Erfurt”, on Monday, March 18th, 8:30 p.m. in the live stream on mdr.de/fakt-ist and 10:10 p.m. on MDR television.

Andreas Menzel and Lars Singer moderate the show, in which the live audience in the studio plays a significant role in the conversation and contributes with opinions, viewpoints, experiences and questions. The following guests will take part in the discussion on the panel:

Tina Rudolph, SPD, member of the Bundestag from Eisenach Professor Dr. med. Martin Walter, Director of the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital Jena Christoph Zippel, CDU, Thuringian state parliament member from Altenburg, health policy spokesman for his parliamentary group

“The release of cannabis is an ideologically motivated decision by the traffic light government,” says the health policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament, Christoph Zippel, outraged. All pediatric and adolescent doctors stormed against this decision. The head of the Jena Psychiatric University Hospital, Professor Martin Walter, also criticizes legalization at this point in time. From his point of view, the urgently needed preventative measures are completely missing. The Thuringian SPD member of the Bundestag Tina Rudolph, on the other hand, defends the Federal Health Minister’s bill. She sits on the Bundestag’s Health Committee and believes the decriminalization of cannabis use is overdue. As a result, they are convinced, consumption of the drug will generally not increase. The judiciary will be relieved in the future and an additional 6 million will also be allocated to the federal budget for preventive measures.
