A young doctor from Castelló, Ivan Andreu, has shared his incredible journey of dedicating seven months to studying ten hours a day in order to secure a place in the General Hospital for his MIR in Hematology. Despite the challenges of the pandemic disrupting his internship plans, Ivan’s passion for hematology and oncology has kept him motivated to excel in his field. He is unsure of his future plans but hopes to stay in the Community if the conditions are favorable.
In a related note, Elisa Pastor, another young MIR, has joined Castelló in Family Medicine with a desire to help a wide range of patients. She too is uncertain about her future specialization but is drawn to the welcoming atmosphere of Castellón and the quality of life it offers.
Both Ivan and Elisa were part of the welcome day for the 77 residents across 26 specialties at the Castelló Health Department. The manager, Raúl Ferrando, emphasized the opportunity for these young professionals to be part of the healthcare of the future at the General Hospital.
The residency period for this year includes 15 future professionals in Family and Community Medicine, as well as specialists in various fields such as Clinical Analysis, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Pediatrics, and more. The event also saw the presence of key figures like Flavia Pronzato, Jose Baleriola, and Eva Mª Arconada, who play crucial roles in the training and development of residents in the department.
