Objective: to increase awareness of the importance of women’s health by strengthening prevention, assistance and treatment actions, with an approach that takes specificities into account
National Women’s Health Day is celebrated on Monday 22 April: at the Casa del Cinema in Rome (Largo Marcello Mastroianni 1, Villa Borghese) a meeting dedicated to women’s well-being is scheduled from 9.30 to 13.30, organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with scientific associations and societies. Furthermore, it will be possible to undergo free cancer screening and prevention visits, thanks to Lilt, the Italian League for the fight against tumors, the Consulcesi Foundation (with the collaboration of Fimmg) and the Progetti del Cuore Foundation. The campers will be present from 9.30am to 2pm in front of the Casa del Cinema.

The meeting, hosted by Chiara Bidoli of Corriere della Sera, intends to raise awareness of the importance of promoting and protecting women’s health, strengthening prevention, assistance and treatment actions, with an approach that takes into account the specificities of women. The Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci opens the proceedings, then we talk about prevention, reproductive health, access to health services, gender equity, with a global approach in all phases of life. After the speech by Carla Vittoria Cacace Maira, of Fondazione Atena, the actress and singer Clara Soccini and the actresses Cristina Donadio and Ilaria Ghira bring their testimony. Anna Maria Colao, Nicola Colacurci, Nicoletta Gandolfo and Annalisa Manduca take part in the panel dedicated to prevention aimed at the whole person. Francesco Saverio Mennini, head of the Department of Programming, Medical Devices, Medicines and Policies in favor of the NHS of the Ministry of Health, introduces the round table «The role and contribution of the scientific and healthcare world», in which representatives of the women’s health associations and scientific societies. Finally, Mara Campitiello, head of the Technical Secretariat of the Minister of Health, closes the proceedings. Participation in the meeting is free, subject to accreditation. Free visit
Outside the Casa del Cinema there will be a Lilt mobile unit to offer free visits and screenings and five information points of the associations that have joined the initiative. «Cancers still represent one of the main causes of significant incidence and mortality among women, despite the fact that in the last ten years there has been a decrease in mortality and an improvement in curability.
