New gym in the neighborhood, the San Fruttuoso Committee: “We will present a complaint against the Municipality of Monza”

The “San Fruttuoso Common Good Committee” has decided to submit a complaint to the Public Prosecutor of the Court of Monza for the crimes of abuse of official documents, omission of official documents, disturbance and trafficking of influences in the overall management of the activities administrative offices of both the Province and the Municipality of Monza, relating to the concession to build on the green area of via Valosa di Sotto, in the San Fruttuoso district in Monza.

This was made known by the president of the committee, the lawyer Mauro Mantica, who explained the reasons that led to the decision, during a press conference that took place at the headquarters of the civic center in via Iseo, on Saturday 2 April.

“In this affair we have contested various forcing of the rules,” he said. The first concerns the new sports structure. “The regulation provided for an uncovered facility on that area that the administration changed to a” discoverable facility “, effectively proposing the same project that should have arisen on the athletics field of the Sabin middle school and which was then set aside”, he continues Mantica.

The second forcing concerns the variant required for the project, for the construction of the parking spaces that will be used by the users of the sports center. “The project had to be expanded with the addition of the construction of the new civic center to justify the construction of the parking lots.”

Last November the request for an agreement between the Municipality of Monza and the Province for the authorization of the project was launched, since the area of via Valosa is an area of provincial interest. The request, as usual, arrives at the Provincial Observatory, which also includes Giorgio Majoli representing the environmentalists. “And this was the misfortune of the Monza administration,” Mantica joked. The preliminary form presented to the Provincial Observatory does not show the construction of a block, a three-storey building, which in fact reduces the free surface of the area which by regulation must be at least 51%. “This anomaly was reported in the Observatory and it appears that the Municipality of Monza has issued a building permit for that area, but the procedure in agreement with the Province has not been promoted, since it was an intervention of land consumption in an area of provincial interest ”, explains Majoli.

But not only. According to the investigations conducted by the Common Good Committee and the access to the documents “in order to allow other buildings and land consumption in via Valosa, another area of provincial interest was combined in via Gondar, more than 2 kilometers away from via Valosa , in an area completely disconnected from that identified for the new construction. An area, that of via Gondar, for which land-use interventions are not even planned “.

In short, the neighborhood would give up 5,000 square meters of green if the project for the new gym was completed, without regaining new plantings. “The compensation could take place in two years but it is not certain that it will be done in San Fruttuoso,” added Alice Pelosi, coordinator of the San Fruttuoso consultancy.

In the meantime, the construction of the new gym should start in a month, as confirmed by the administration.
