A total of 24 doctors, nurses, and psychologists have begun their specialized training in Zamora. Among them are nine Hospital Care doctors, eight primary care doctors taking the MIR exam, four nurses doing the EIR (Internal Resident Nurse), and three psychologists in the PIR program.
One of the new residents is Estela Bajo, the first MIR chosen by Zamora this year. Coming from Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca), she chose Zamora for her training as a resident doctor specializing in Family and Community Medicine because of the personalized training opportunities in a smaller hospital. Bajo is a strong advocate for rural health, emphasizing the importance of maintaining rural healthcare in Spain.
Another new resident, Iker Álvarez from Bilbao, chose the Zamora hospital complex for his MIR training in Internal Medicine based on recommendations to choose a smaller hospital where he could participate and have better job opportunities.
These new residents highlight the importance of personalized training and opportunities for hands-on experience in smaller hospitals like Zamora. Their decisions to train in Zamora showcase the appeal of rural healthcare and the benefits of being able to actively engage with patients in a more intimate setting.
