Omicron: Iss faq, high booster efficacy after 14 days – Health

by admin

On the efficacy of vaccines against the Omicron variant a greater efficacy towards symptomatic disease emerged two weeks after the booster, comparable or slightly lower than that towards Delta. A study not yet peer-reviewed also reports a loss of efficacy in the primary cycle with respect to hospitalization, although to a lesser extent than in symptomatic disease. The Higher Institute of Health (Iss) writes on the Faqs published on the site.

Existing PCR-based tests also detect infection with Omicron. Due to the mutations, many monoclonal antibodies lose their effectiveness.
