Cona Ophthalmology Doubles in Capacity
Starting from Monday 15 January, Cona Ophthalmology has announced that their day surgery in block 3B0 is now fully operational, with a significant increase in capacity. The ophthalmology emergency outpatient department now has 10 beds and 4 dedicated seats, a significant increase from the previous allocation of 4 beds. This development will allow 22 operations to be carried out per day, with 12 outpatient cataract operations and 10 day surgeries.
The expanded capacity and organization of the ophthalmology day surgery will allow for a broader and more structured care of users for scheduled complex cataract, glaucoma, and vitreoretinal surgery operations. The staff has also been specially trained to provide specialized healthcare for ophthalmology patients.
The recent expansion also includes a waiting room to host and welcome family members and caregivers accompanying patients undergoing scheduled surgery.
Professor Marco Mura, the director of the Cona Eye Clinic, expressed his satisfaction with the expansion, stating that it was in response to the increased demand for surgical interventions. He emphasized that the expanded capacity will allow for prompt treatment of patients coming from the province and the region, thereby reducing waiting lists for the treatment of complex retinal pathologies.
This expansion represents a significant improvement in the healthcare services provided by Cona Ophthalmology and will have a positive impact on the local community.
