Popular drinks can increase the risk of hair loss in men

Full, healthy hair – and preferably for as long as possible. Unfortunately, not all people are lucky enough to have a full head of hair on their head throughout their lives.

There is a great tendency to hair loss, especially among men. Researchers have investigated what can cause hair loss and how the risk can be reduced.

Study on hair loss in men

In Beijing, scientists at Tsinghua University researched hair loss in men in more detail. About 1,000 Chinese men took part in a survey about their eating and drinking habits and the condition of their hair.

During the evaluation, the researchers focused on the connections between hair structures and the consumption of sugary drinks.

Too much sugar can cause hair loss

The results of the study show that hair loss affected almost a third of all men who consumed one or more sugary drinks per day. These include soft drinks, energy drinks or even morning coffee with sugar.

Men who generally avoided these drinks were 42 percent less likely to have hair loss.

This is what an overdose of sugar does to the body

Sugar has an impact on the skin. The sugar puts the skin cells into a state that resembles inflammation. This can be recognized, among other things, on the face by visible pimples or enlarged pores.

But it’s not just the skin on the face that shows what sugar does to the body, but also the scalp. The consequences are dull, thin or brittle hair – and this in turn promotes hair loss.

It’s not just drinks that cause hair loss

Of course, the participants in the study did not only eat sugary drinks. Therefore, the fluids cannot be solely responsible for hair loss. External influences on the body, such as an unhealthy diet or stress, can also cause hair to fall out.

In contrast to genetic or disease-related causes, these influences can largely be brought under control.

A balanced diet is key

Reaching for a sugary drink every now and then is okay. However, you should be careful not to consume it too regularly. If you also avoid industrial sugar in your diet, the risk of excess sugar in the body and the risk of sugar-related hair loss decreases.

The secret here is to focus on a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

By the way: Alcohol can also promote hair loss.
