Bielefeld – The annual meeting of the German Society for Endocrinology (DGE) elected Prof. Dr. med. last Thursday in Rostock. med. Joachim Feldkamp as conference president for the 2027 anniversary congress. The 70th edition of the renowned congress will take place in Bielefeld and bring together around 800 experts from the field of endocrinology.
Prof. Dr. med. Joachim Feldkamp, a leading expert in the field of endocrinology, will take over the scientific leadership of the 2027 congress in Bielefeld. His extensive experience and commitment to advancing research and practice in endocrinology will be invaluable in designing an innovative and inspiring program for the society’s 70th anniversary. This is the first time that a chief physician at the Bielefeld Clinic has been appointed president of the annual conference of a medical society.
The supporting program will focus on Bielefeld and the medical faculty of Bielefeld University and will make the location for medical excellence in research, treatment and teaching with the OWL University Hospital known beyond the city limits.

Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Endocrinology: An emphasis is placed on the use of artificial intelligence to improve diagnosis, treatment and patient care. Omics in basic research: The areas of genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics, which provide new insights into the molecular basis of endocrine diseases, receive particular attention. Transition of adolescents with endocrine disorders: In cooperation with the children’s center at the Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel (EvKB), the important phase of the transition of adolescents with endocrine disorders into adult medicine is discussed. The focus is on obesity, people with gender incongruence and endocrine diseases in disability medicine.
The congress aims to provide a forum for the exchange of the latest research results, clinical practices and innovative approaches in endocrinology. Participants can look forward to a diverse program of lectures and workshops designed to share knowledge, promote networks and stimulate future collaborations.

Prof. Dr. med. Joachim Feldkamp is director of the University Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetology and Infectious Diseases at Bielefeld Hospital as part of the OWL University Hospital. As a recognized expert in the field of endocrinology, he and his team provide highly specialized care for endocrinological diseases such as diabetes, thyroid diseases, hormonal diseases and osteoporosis. His experimental endocrinology team on the Bielefeld University campus is dedicated to basic research in the field of tumor development and tumor immunology of the thyroid. With his achievements in research and teaching, he contributes significantly to the understanding and treatment of endocrine disorders. The University Clinic for General Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetology and Infectious Diseases at the Bielefeld Mitte Clinic is a certified diabetes center as well as a foot treatment facility and hormone and metabolism center.
