PROMES-U Research Project: Improving Emotional Well-Being Among University Students

A team of researchers from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) is working on a project called PROMES-U, which aims to improve the emotional well-being of university students. The researchers are evaluating the effectiveness of an online intervention called MiGuíaEmocional (MyMoodCoach) in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety among students.

MiGuíaEmocional is a mobile application that provides various strategies based on cognitive-behavioral therapy to help students improve their emotional well-being. The intervention lasts for six weeks, during which students can monitor their mood and access different tools and resources to manage their symptoms. They will also receive guidance from a mental health professional via chat throughout the intervention.

The project is coordinated by the High Prevalence Mental Disorders research group (TRAMAP) at UIB, in collaboration with several other universities including Pompeu Fabra, Jaime I, Miguel Hernández, Zaragoza, and Málaga. The Carlos III Health Institute is providing the funding for the project, with the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute in Barcelona serving as the coordinating center.

This initiative aims to support the mental health and well-being of university students, who often face high levels of stress and pressure during their academic studies. By providing access to online interventions like MiGuíaEmocional, researchers hope to help students better manage their emotional health and overall well-being.
