The Serio Gym in Crema Overflows with Muslims Celebrating Eid al Fitr

The Serio gym in Crema was filled to capacity as Muslims from the community gathered to celebrate Eid al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan. The event, which concluded the Muslim holy month, saw at least 1,700 people in attendance, with the facility being completely sold out.

Mohamed Tahiri, responsible for the Islamic community of Crema, expressed the need for a larger venue for future events, as the Muslim population in Cremasco ranges from six to seven thousand. He also highlighted the presence of about ten people from Crema who have converted to Islam.

The celebrations were attended by Mayor Fabio Bergamaschi, Bishop Daniele Gianotti, and Father Viorel Flestea, priest of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church. After exchanging greetings, a moment of prayer took place.

Tahiri took the opportunity to discuss the activities carried out by the Islamic Center of Crema, including Arabic courses for children born in Italy and efforts to prevent negative behavior among Muslim youth. The center also holds dialogue sessions with local schools to promote understanding and integration.

Tahiri expressed hope for the approval of a change of use for a warehouse in via Rossignoli, which the Center has been requesting for years. The Center, recognized as a social promotion association, serves as a hub for community members, with goals of expanding their services and further integrating with the local population.
