In particular, the proceeds will finance Pink Union, the Humanitas Research Foundation project launched in 2020 and designed to support specific research in favor of women’s health. The project, which has the pink tricolor symbol, represents the commitment of doctors and researchers for the treatment of typical female pathologies, i.e. gender research and that on autoimmune diseases with particular regard to the role and effects of the microbiota on the immune system and not only.

Research developed and coordinated by Maria Rescigno, director of the Humanitas Foundation for Research and Head of the Humanitas mucosal and microbiota immunology laboratory who, together with her team, has recently published the results of a study that opens up new scenarios in the knowledge of the functioning of a of the barriers (or interfaces) between the bloodstream and the brain, the choroid plexus.

Pink Union was created to raise awareness among women on the importance of prevention and early diagnosis, undergoing regular checks, in order to make them understand how much the time factor is essential to fight diseases.
