National Meeting in San Giovanni Rotondo on International Epilepsy Day

SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO (FOGGIA) – A national meeting has been organized in San Giovanni Rotondo as part of International Epilepsy Day, with the purpose of raising awareness among the population about this neurological condition and fighting against the social stigma and exclusion associated with it.

The event will feature distinguished specialists and experts in the field of Neurology, including Dr. Giuseppe D’Orsi, medical director UOC Neurology at “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza”, Dr. Massimo Carella, Deputy Scientific Director at “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza”, and Dr. Maria Rachele Bianchi, Medical Director UOC Neurology at “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza”.

In addition to the contributions from the experts, the meeting will also include greetings from the mayor of San Giovanni Rotondo, prof. Michele Crisetti, and interventions from the president of “Gli Amici di San Pio” Dr. Serafino Graziano Leuzzi, as well as Dr. Michele Giuliani, administrative director of “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza”.

The event, which is supported by the Puglia Region and the Municipality of San Giovanni Rotondo, also benefits from the collaboration of the “LICE” (Italian League Against Epilepsy), the “Fondazione Epilessia LICE”, and “Amamente ODV”, the association for the fight against developmental epilepsies.

Serafino Graziano Leuzzi, president of the APS “Gli Amici di San Pio” stated, “Every year, initiatives are organized all over the world aimed at raising awareness of this disease and fighting the stigma and exclusion that accompany it. Reducing the stigma of epilepsy is the key to reducing the repercussions of the disease and improving people’s quality of life. Talking about epilepsy through correct information therefore becomes fundamental and essential, and this is exactly what we want to do here in San Giovanni Rotondo on Saturday 10 February.”
