Due to “the serious shortage of medical personnel”, the Matera Health Authority has issued a public notice to recruit retired doctors for a period “of no longer than six months, unless extended”.
The decision – it is explained in a press release – was taken to “ensure and guarantee all clinical, healthcare, diagnostic, instrumental and surgical activities: the extraordinary recruitment of some medical specialties such as Cardiology, Radiology, Paediatrics, General Surgery was made appropriate , Emergency Medicine, Medical Oncology, Pathological Anatomy, Gastroenterology, Anesthesia and Resuscitation or equivalent disciplines”.
The use of this new notice “has become necessary after the countless procedures put in place in recent weeks aimed at recruiting staff and which unfortunately went unanswered and also to put a stop to the cooperatives of token doctors which degrade the professionalism within the healthcare company “.
