During a control of the territory by the Carabinieri di Medicina, near the hamlet of Villa Fontana, a theft was prevented. At the sight of the soldiers who were patrolling the area, a motorist driving a Fiat Punto quickly moved away, but the chase started. The driver, however, accelerated, heading at high speed towards Budrio, finally he abandoned the vehicle in via Olmo and disappeared.
Inspecting the vehicle, the Carabinieri discovered that the number plates were false, while the body color had been replaced to try to disguise the car that had been canceled from the Public Automobile Register due to an “Export outside the European Union”.
Continuing the investigations, they found that shortly before the chase, the motorist driving the Punto had visited an 82-year-old, together with an accomplice, making her believe he was a technician in charge of checking the water meters.
“Disturbed” by the Carabinieri, they had been forced to leave. A crowbar, some caps, a badge holder and a high-visibility jacket were found in the car, a model that the fake technicians wear to deceive potential victims.
