Solidarity with the operators of the Mental Health Center in via Gambini
Having learned the news of the proclaimed state of agitation by the operators of the Mental Health Center in via Gambini and the consequent strike of the first 2 hours of Thursday 9 May from 8.00 to 10.00, we wish to express our closeness to the operators who see us united with requests for the reinstatement of staff and the restoration of the 24-hour service of CSM 4 which has been operating on a half-service basis since 2021.
We consider this request indispensable and ESSENTIAL for our fragile relatives who need and have the full right to a full-time service with the presence of operators of all professions (doctors, psychologists, nurses, therapists, educators, obs…) adequate in terms of quantity – and therefore of sufficient numerical presence in each shift – and in terms of quality and training.
As a Family Association we met in a hearing with the General Director Dr. Poggiana already on 08/23/2022, also present was the socio-health director at the time, Dr. Samani and Dr. Pascolo, then Director of the CSM Gambini as well as FF Director of the Mental Health Department. At that location we were guaranteed the reinstatement of the CSM Gambini staff with five new nursing units, the minimum number to guarantee the 24-hour reopening. Reopening also announced on the pages of your newspaper.
None of this has happened since then. WHY’? We raised the problem again with a letter on 24 March 2023, forwarding it for information also to the FVG Guarantor of People’s Rights and to the FVG Sick Rights association, but did not receive any response. WHY’?
As of 2021 THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS; WHY’ ?
We ask out loud – also via this route – to meet Dr. Poggiana to find immediate answers and remedies together; it is no longer acceptable that three years later nothing has changed.
Indeed, as demonstrated by the operators themselves, the workloads on the other CSMs have worsened and become heavier and, already understaffed, are forced to accommodate “not their own” users for the night.
And, obviously, all this has very, very negative repercussions on the levels of assistance and care of our family members.
