Previously, Microsoft exposed the interface of the new version of Media Player in a show film, but the details are unknown. However, Microsoft’s new Media Player program has now been pushed to Windows 11 Dev users.
Microsoft has redesigned Media Player to allow users to listen to and watch multimedia content more happily on Windows 11. The new version of Media Player will display the user’s local music and video collections and complement the new look of Windows 11.
Microsoft said that the core of the new version of Media Player is a full-featured music library that allows users to quickly browse and play music, as well as create and manage playlists. If the user’s music collection is in the past Groove music, the music library and playlist will be automatically migrated. The new version of Media Player will replace the Groove music application.

▲ Small window mode, can display the cover
The new version of Media Player also fully supports browsing, managing and watching local videos. All content in the music and video folders on the user’s computer will automatically appear in the media database, and the user can also find other media content in the settings of the application.
The new version of Media Player is also optimized for browsing, providing users with changed keyboard shortcut support and other assistive technologies.
The new version of Media Player does not conflict with the old version of Windows Media Player and can exist at the same time. The new version of Media Player replaces the previous Groove music.
However, the current new version of Media Player still has some bugs, such as the inability to play from the Internet, and in some cases, the inability to edit the album data, the inability to sort the database content, and the inability to change the preferred UI elements.
