Great news! CD Projekt RED announced the new “Witcher” series in a flash earlier, and only confirmed that it will be developed using Unreal Engine 5, rather than the self-made engine REDengine that has been used.

The new “Witcher” was born, and did not reveal much information for the first time. The first main visual image only used “A New Saga Begins” (the beginning of a new legend) to express the task given to the new work.

CD Projekt Red emphasized through a statement that as part of its multi-year strategic cooperation with Epic Games, the new “Witcher” will be developed using the Unreal Engine 5 game engine, and will also include engine technical development support for future versions.

According to the statement, CD Projekt Red sees this collaboration as part of a transformation of RED 2.0; including a greater focus on technology, rather than spending energy on maintaining and developing an autonomous REDengine, it is better to find someone to work with. It is currently inferred that it may move forward with the goal of customizing the engine.

The statement also pointed out that this cooperation is limited to new works and future development, and that “Electric Rider 2077” and subsequent large-scale updates will continue to use REDengine.

On whether the close cooperation with Epic Games will lead to the possibility of a new “Witcher” exclusive platform. For this reason, the official Twitter of “The Witcher” has clarified for the first time that it will not monopolize any platform for sale.
