From marginality to social inclusion: a healing journey
Light residential and care project for people with mental disorders in the ASL Roma 4 area
In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic we have the opportunity to rethink and redesign new forms of residential care and services for people with mental disorders. The article describes the results of a program of light residential, health care, assistance and work in the territory of the ASD Roma 4. The program, born from the collaboration of the Community of Sant’Egidio with the Department of Mental Health and with the Service for Dependencies of the ASL, began in October 2012 and, over the course of nine years, has created a network of protected cohabitations, the creation of personal support networks, volunteering initiatives and job opportunities.
