When playing fighting games, input lag is very important because you want your character to react to your opponent’s actions as quickly as possible. This basically refers to the time it takes from when the button is pressed until it is actually used by your fighter. Therefore, high input lag can make games feel sluggish.

Unfortunately, this happened to the recently released The King of Fighters XV. Twitter usersNigel “Noodalls” Woodall Focused on measuring input lag, it now shares his findings as well. The Playstation 5 turned out to be the worst version to date, with a whopping 90.67 milliseconds from when the button was pressed to when the character actually moved. Even the Playstation 4 has less input lag than that, and the Xbox Series X is the most accurate.

  • Playstation 5 Average Latency – 90.67 ms
  • Playstation 4 Average Latency – 69.39 ms
  • Playstation 4 Pro Average Latency – 68.66 ms
  • Xbox Series S Average Latency – 59.62 ms
  • Xbox Series X Average Latency – 55.22 ms

While input lag is always bad in a fighting game, even a millisecond counts here because The King of Fighters XV is cross-playable between Playstation 4 and 5, which means that with Sony’s latest consoles Players are at a clear disadvantage. It should be noted that this isn’t the first fighting game to have the worst input lag on the Playstation 5, as was the case with Paladins – Struggle – which launched last year. We don’t know why this is happening, but hopefully this can be resolved with a software update.
