Ticks Pose Health Threat in Trento

Ticks have been appearing early this spring in Trento, Italy, posing a health threat to residents. Hospital officials have confirmed two cases of tick bite encephalitis (Tbe) resulting in hospitalizations. The patients, aged 49 and 54, have fortunately recovered and are no longer in danger.

As tick season approaches its peak in late spring and summer, experts advise taking precautions to prevent tick bites. Ticks can transmit serious diseases, making it crucial to defend against them.

Vaccination is recommended for those who have completed the cycle three years ago, with a booster shot available. Individuals who have not been vaccinated can still receive the vaccine for protection. The vaccine is effective after the second dose, providing coverage after a month. An expedited cycle is also available for early protection within 14 days.

Residents are urged to stay informed about tick prevention and take necessary measures to protect themselves. Stay updated on the latest news regarding ticks and health in Trento.
