At around 1 pm on Tuesday, a 73-year-old mountaineer from Lissone (MB) was the victim of a bad fall at the climbing wall of Monte Castello, located above the town of Gaino, a hamlet of Toscolano Maderno.
He was first in the rope and was climbing with a friend when he fell for about ten meters. Having given the alarm, the operations center sent the helicopter rescue – which took off from Brescia – and the territorial teams of the Val Sabbia Alpine Rescue. After a few minutes the carabinieri of Salò also intervened.
After the recovery operations, the man was taken by helicopter to Poliambulanza: he suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized in yellow code. His condition does not appear to be of undue concern. The rescue intervention ended around 2.30 pm.
