75-Year-Old Man Hospitalized in Critical Condition After Violent Robbery in Turin

A 75-year-old man from Turin is fighting for his life after a violent robbery took place in Via Gaidano in Mirafiori. The elderly man was leaving the gym when two robbers drove alongside him in a Fiat 500 L and snatched his gym bag. In a desperate attempt to stop the thieves, the man held onto the handle of the vehicle and shouted for them to stop. However, the robbers stepped on the accelerator, dragging the man for meters before he fell to the ground and hit his head.

Since the incident last Friday, the victim has been hospitalized at the Cto hospital in Turin with a reserved prognosis. His condition is said to be critical.

The victimā€™s daughter and son-in-law, who were in the area at the time of the robbery, were unable to intervene and could only call for help. The flying squad, coordinated by public prosecutor Paolo Scafi, quickly managed to arrest the two suspects thanks to the distinctive features of their rented vehicle ā€“ a blue Fiat 500 L with white mirrors and roof.

The suspects, two men of Moroccan descent aged between 45 and 50, appeared before the judge for preliminary investigations and have been charged with attempted murder. One of the suspects, represented by lawyer Stefano Rullo, claims that their intention was not to cause harm but to commit a theft. However, the violent impact between the elderly man and the vehicle left a dent on the door as evidence of the severity of the incident.

It was revealed that the two suspects were previously convicted together for a similar crime last year and were known for other property crimes.
