Italian pediatricians are also alongside Ukrainian children who are experiencing the dramatic experience of war. The Italian Society of Pediatrics (Sip), with a donation of 10 thousand euros, joined the extraordinary fundraising promoted by Unicef, the Italian Red Cross (Cri) and Unhcr to provide humanitarian and social and health assistance to minors and their families in the affected territories from the conflict.
The funds raised through the campaign, informs a note from the SIP, will be used for basic necessities such as shelters, blankets, medical care, drinking water, personal hygiene kits and psychological support.
There are over 7 and a half million Ukrainian children at risk of their lives, many in need of immediate humanitarian and social and health protection. Added to the conflict is the Covid-19 pandemic which, according to Unicef, recorded a 555% increase between January 15 and February 25, putting a strain on the population now forced to flee from the centers affected by the fighting.
