Ulss 8 Berica suspends 48 doctors and nurses no vax

by admin

Forty-eight suspended between public and private health. They will remain off duty, unless they decide to get vaccinated, until December 31, without receiving a salary. This is the decision of the Ulss 8 towards health workers who have not fulfilled the immunization obligation imposed by law decree 44 of 1 April. The Berica company was the first in Veneto to apply the law when the other Ulss continued to linger, and which did not slow down even when the Region seemed to want to take a pause for reflection on the not insignificant issue. «The law must be respected – is the position of the general manager Giusy Bonavina – There could not have been and there will be no hesitation. We are working in accordance with the provisions of the legislation to ensure the protection of public health. We, unlike some other Ulss, have been lucky enough to be able to absorb the gaps that have been created in the hospital without repercussions on the activity of the departments thanks also to the help of the staff who have shown dedication, sense of duty and spirit of responsibility”.

The largest number of suspended is in private health care. Affected by the measure are several doctors of health centers in the city, some dentists who work in rather well-known professional dental practices. Among the sanctioned also several psychologists. However, San Bortolo also has its no-vax in white coats. Among them, 4 doctors, one of them from the staff of one of the specialist departments fighting Covid on the front line, and have seen dozens of people grabbed by the fury of viral pneumonia pass and die since March last year. We see that not even seeing closely the end of those who die, the bewildered eyes, the lungs devoured by the lethal infection without the ability to breathe independently, serves to convince when, driven by an extremism without limits, one does not want to recognize the meaning. ethics and the duty of vaccination in a phase of health emergency involving the whole community.
The largest package of suspensions concerns nurses, oss, midwives, laboratory technicians, physiotherapists.

We continue on the path of rigor, but the matter remains very thorny. Many of the suspended ones made the lawyers move between appeals and stamped papers. There are those who speak of a vaccine that is still experimental. And who appeals to the alleged violation of Article 32 of the Constitution according to which no one can be forced to medical treatment. There are legal battles underway, even if, to date, everywhere in Italy, labor judges and the TAR have always rejected the applicants’ requests for suspension and reinstatement. “We are having a great deal of support from our legal department”, explains the director of the Sisp Teresa Padovan, who coordinates the work of the evaluation commission, flanked by the head of medical management Romina Cazzaro, by two primary doctors, the infectious specialist Vinicio Manfrin and the dermatologist Luigi Naldi, by health assistants and administrative officials. The reasons in favor of the company are many, from the unquestionable choice of the legislator, to the right to health that prevails over the freedom of the individual. The letters with which the suspension resolution is communicated were sent by competence, after the ascertainment that belongs to the ULSS, also by the Medical Association to the professionals enrolled in the register; the registered letters sent by the ULSS to out-of-law operators could, however, increase. In the coming days, the company commission will meet again to examine other positions in the balance. And the feeling is that there will be another turn of the screw. The battle to fight Covid even more in places of health is too important.
