The University of Burgos continues to push for the creation of a Faculty of Medicine, with rector Manuel Pérez Mateos emphasizing the importance of this objective during the inauguration of a new classroom at the old Military Hospital. The space, shared by the faculties of Health Sciences and Humanities and Communication, is seen as an ideal location for the implementation of the sought-after degree.
“I do not miss the opportunity to claim these studies,” stated Pérez Mateos, noting that a meeting with Minister of Education Rocío Lucas is on the horizon. The rector of the University of León is also planning to discuss a similar request with the education department this month.
In addition to advocating for the Faculty of Medicine, Pérez Mateos also called on President of the Board Alfonso Fernández Mañueco to follow through on the promised creation of a biomedical research center in collaboration with Regional Health Management (Sacyl). The rector’s comments were made during the inauguration of a new classroom at the Military Hospital, which includes six classrooms and a multipurpose space for over a hundred people.
The University of Burgos is committed to advancing medical education and research in the region, and these recent developments signal progress towards that goal.
