(Berlin, January 19, 2024) Insured people from BARMER, KKH, hkk and HEK can now receive all common vaccinations from many company doctors and occupational health services. This is what the Association of Replacement Funds e. V. (vdek) and the Association of German Company and Company Doctors. V. (VDBW) regulated in a contract that came into force on January 1, 2024.
āVaccinations offer the best protection against many serious illnesses,ā explains Ulrike Elsner, CEO of vdek. āBy offering vaccinations at work, we want to make it even easier for insured people to take the vaccinations recommended by the Standing Vaccination Commission. With the contract we would like to help increase vaccination rates, because many people are missing important booster vaccinations.ā
Susanne Liebe, President of the VDBW, explains: āVaccinations are an effective and established measure against many infectious diseases, some of which are potentially very serious, and are therefore to be fully supported. Vaccinations by company doctors have the advantage that they can be offered at the workplace at a low threshold. This also reaches employees who rarely go to their family doctor. We are very pleased that the contract expands the possibility of offering vaccinations for insured persons and companies as part of statutory health insurance through the company doctor.ā
Free and uncomplicated
The new vaccination offer is free. Insured persons simply present their electronic health card (eGK) and their vaccination certificate ā just like for vaccinations in the family doctorās office. The VDBW bills the services electronically with the respective replacement fund, which means less bureaucracy for the company doctors than usual procedures.
In 2020, vdek signed the first nationwide contract for vaccination in the workplace with the German Society for Occupational Medicine and Environmental Medicine. V. (DGAUM) closed. The new contract with the VDBW will expand the network as even more company doctors are involved.
You can find more information about the contract, participation and the billing procedure on the VDBW website.
