The Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia has announced the addition of a new permanent academic, Vincent Riambau Alonso. Riambau is a specialist in Angiology and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, currently serving as the head of Vascular Surgery at the Cardiovascular Institute of the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona. He is also affiliated with the Teknon Medical Center (Quirónsalud) in Barcelona.
Riambau joined the academy as a full academic with a speech titled ‘The emergence of endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysm: from relativity to artificial intelligence’. The speech was answered by academic Laureano Fernández-Cruz, emeritus professor of Surgery.
In addition to his role as an academic, Riambau is a professor of Surgery at the University of Barcelona and holds a doctorate in medicine from the same university. He has received training in elite North American and European centers and has a strong research background. His main areas of subspecialization include endovascular surgery of the aorta, vascular surgery of the extremities, supra-aortic trunks, varicose veins of the legs, and vascular malformations.
Riambau has an impressive scientific production, with over 400 articles, 80 chapters, and more than 500 presentations. His cumulative impact factor is greater than 2,000 points.
