Due to the increasing globalization of food production and trade and the ever-increasing complexity of supply chains, food and feed safety can only be guaranteed by adopting an international approach, through close collaboration between countries and institutions, which also allows to promote the harmonization of existing methods and processes.
Il World Food Safety Almanac, published online by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), illustrates the administrative organization existing in the various countries in the sector of food and feed safety, describing the responsibilities of the various public institutions involved.
In this way, the publication intends to offer as many readers as possible an overview of the functioning of the system and the role of the various institutional actors committed to guaranteeing the safety of the food that reaches our tables.
