Xbox Series S/X passes 250,000 milestone in Japan – Gamereactor

Xbox has never been a big brand in Japan, even though the Xbox 360 has become somewhat popular with at least 1,616,218 units sold. The Xbox One dropped the ball entirely, despite barely selling, with some weeks selling less than 100 units nationwide and 114,831 lifetime sales.

Fortunately, the Xbox Series S/X appears to be picking up pace in Japan, and in November 2021, after a year on the market, it surpassed the lifetime sales of the Xbox One, and this week it passed another milestone. As noted by analyst Benji Sales, it has now sold more than 250,000 units for a total of 260,504 units.

This summer, the Xbox Series S/X even outsold the PlayStation 5 in Japan (though still far ahead, not even close to the Switch’s popularity). While this is of course also related to supply constraints, the Xbox is actually showing healthy numbers, with an average of over 10,000 units sold per week in the country. Aaron Greenberg, head of global product marketing, was so delighted that he sent a thank you note to Japanese gamers on Twitter.
