Shijiazhuang Launches 2023 Energy Conservation Publicity Week
July 11, 2023 – Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province: The municipal government and the Provincial Development and Reform Commission of Shijiazhuang launched the 2023 Energy Conservation Publicity Week at the cultural square of the provincial capital on July 10. This event aims to raise awareness about energy conservation among the public and promote a green and low-carbon lifestyle.
The Energy Conservation Publicity Week is an annual nationwide activity that is now in its 33rd year. Taking place from July 10th to 16th, this year’s theme is “Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction, You and I Go Together”.
During the launching ceremony, the achievements and experiences of energy saving and consumption reduction since the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” in Shijiazhuang were showcased on display boards. The city has also emphasized plastic pollution control and the establishment of a demonstration city for recycling waste materials.
In addition to the display, various departments including the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, the Municipal Education Bureau, the Municipal Organ Affairs Management Bureau, and the Municipal Women’s Federation will hold themed publicity days throughout the Energy Conservation Publicity Week. These events will focus on promoting the concepts of ecological priority, conservation and intensive development, and green and low-carbon development.
“The ’14th Five-Year’ period is a critical period for accelerating the establishment of a green, low-carbon, and circular development economic system, and it is also a window period for realizing the ‘double carbon’ goal,” said Yang Lubiao, from the Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection Department of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission. It is planned that the province’s energy consumption per unit of GDP during the 14th Five-Year Plan period will decrease by 14.5%, with a cumulative decrease of 10.3% from 2021 to 2022, and an additional 3% decrease in 2023.
Yang Lubiao further stated that future activities will include introducing energy-saving services to enterprises and promoting energy-saving and carbon-reducing technologies. Localities will also organize various publicity activities according to their specific conditions to guide society in advocating for an energy-saving and low-carbon social atmosphere.
The 2023 Energy Conservation Publicity Week of Hebei Province and Shijiazhuang City aims to educate and engage citizens in energy-saving practices and promote a greener and more sustainable future for the region.
