These are the brothers Stella and Vincenzo Bitetti: the accusation is fraudulent bankruptcy. Their company became insolvent towards the tax authorities in 2013 and went bankrupt in 2018

PREGANZIOL. Two directors of a company in Preganziol, Cmt srl, a company with about fifty employees active in the shipbuilding sector until October 2018, when it was declared bankrupt by the Treviso court, were investigated by the Treviso prosecutor’s office for fraudulent bankruptcy.

They are two brothers, Stella Bitetti, 50, and Vincenzo Bitetti, 49, both from Preganziol, and resident in the hamlet of Sambughè. Initially, the investigation also involved another company director, an elderly relative of the two brothers, who has since passed away.

The accusation, which is based on a long and detailed investigation by the soldiers of the Finance Police of the Treviso company, coordinated by Captain Daniele Leonetti, is heavy and disputes a failure of over 6 million euros. The company, established in 2011, was already insolvent vis-à-vis the tax authorities in 2013 and was declared bankrupt in October 2018.

It had its headquarters in the center of Preganziol, on the Terraglio. The activity carried out by the company, which made use of specialized figures such as carpenters, welders and pipe makers, consisted in the supply of metal carpentry work, maintenance and assembly for third-party companies, mainly in shipyards and metallurgical plants in Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and Puglia. “The investigations”, the financiers explain in a note, “have made it possible to ascertain that the directors have withdrawn from the company accounts, for purposes unrelated to the company’s business, sums of over 6 million euros, making them appear as” contingent liabilities “, And unduly collected 450 thousand euros of credits existing at the time of bankruptcy in 2018, thus preventing the sums from being allocated to the creditors of the company”.

The investigations of the Treviso financiers also revealed that the suspects, aware of the insolvency of the company, dating back to 2013, instead of resorting to the legal tools for resolving the crisis, continued economic activity, accumulating further debts and aggravating the failure , to the point of leading the company to bankruptcy. Moreover, the accused, in order to hide the distractions and prevent the bankruptcy trustee from reconstructing the patrimonial situation of the company, made the accounting records unreliable. Since the beginning of the year, 61 operations have been completed in the sector, with 107 people reported and over 172 million euros of confirmed distractions.

The words spoken by the provincial commander, Colonel Francesco De Giacomo, during the feast of the Fiamme Gialle, about the crisis of the companies resound more than ever: “Among the sectors subject to monitoring is”, said Colonel De Giacomo, “Undoubtedly also that of corporate crises, a phenomenon that has assumed worrying dimensions in the Brand, which, moreover, risk undergoing a further increase when the measures to support the economy cease. The purpose of our intervention in this field is twofold: from a general point of view, fairness in relations between the various parties involved must be protected, avoiding that creditors are damaged by incorrect behavior of entrepreneurs in crisis. From another point of view, equally delicate at the moment, it is necessary to prevent criminal organizations from seizing, thanks to the capital they have, the opportunity to take over companies in difficulty ».
