The National Institute of Cultural Heritage (INPC) will celebrate the inauguration of the project “Architectural-landscape proposal for tourist equipment on the route to the El Altar volcano”, an ambitious project that has transformed the La Bocatoma-Inguisay community. The initiative, highlighted among the winners of the Lines of Promotion of Traditional or Vernacular Architecture, seeks to revitalize the route to the snowy El Altar from the parish of Quimiag. The proposal, developed in collaboration with the Zoila Martínez Association, represents a brilliant example of how ancestral wisdom and community participation can merge to create a sustainable tourism environment.

The infrastructure, designed with materials such as bahareque, wood and straw, pays tribute to the local vernacular tradition, adapting perfectly to the environment. The choice of these materials is not only aesthetic, but also ecological, respecting the local flora and embracing sustainable design. The project is distinguished by its investigative approach, integrating vernacular techniques with the aim of preserving the cultural and natural heritage of the region. The alliance between tradition, sustainable development and community participation is clearly reflected in this initiative, which directly benefits the active members of the Zoila Martínez Agricultural Workers Association and her families. These dedicated individuals not only engage in tourism activity, but also play a vital role in the preservation of the moors, thus contributing to the conservation of local biodiversity.

In the context of the Development Lines, this project joins 22 other winners who have materialized their construction and conservation proposals. The successful completion of these projects is not only an individual achievement, but a testament to the overall commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage and social memory, both nationally and locally. This inauguration event not only represents a milestone in the revitalization of the route to El Altar, but also an opportunity to celebrate the collective effort and shared vision of a future richer in culture and tourism. Everyone is invited to witness this exciting chapter in safeguarding cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism.
