The staff of the association traveling every day to bring the therapies to the Feltre hospital. President Tres: “Another ambulance will arrive in October”
BELLUNO. Welcome India 13. The new car, delivered a few days ago, will be used by Valbelluna as an emergency to continue one of the many services that the association performs for Ulss Dolomiti, in agreement, and for the community: the transport of blood, organs and medications. In particular, the anti-cancer drugs that are prepared at the San Martino hospital in the new laboratory set up two years ago thanks to the machinery donated by a benefactor.

ALWAYS TRAVELLING
The new car replaces India 4, which now had 255,000 km on the engine. “We have been carrying out this service for the ULSS for a couple of years,” says the president of the association, Giacinta Tres. «We used India 4 as long as it was possible: the outbreak of the pandemic made us increase the kilometers traveled, because we also started to transport the swabs to the reference laboratories (which initially were only in Padua). We could no longer postpone the replacement ».
The new machine has nine seats, and in addition to ensuring safe journeys for the transport of blood, organs, tampons and anticancer drugs, it also allows volunteers to be brought to the demonstrations with a single vehicle. “On certain occasions we set up the Pma, the advanced medical point,” recalls Tres. «And with this new machine we are able to bring the necessary volunteers with a single vehicle».
The activities
The activity of Valbelluna emergency has also resumed in terms of assistance to the demonstrations, which in 2020 had been almost completely canceled due to the pandemic.
The association also works at the vaccination center in Paludi, together with Vol.A and Eva Alpago: if someone feels bad, the volunteers are ready to intervene. “Some time ago we had an anaphylactic shock that required transport to the hospital, for the rest they are people who suffer pressure drops or minor discomfort due to agitation”, explains the president of Vbe.
A NEW INDIA
In addition, in the second half of October, a new ambulance will arrive, which will replace the vehicle destroyed in an accident in January. It was a Sunday morning, the vehicle crashed into the edge of the Ponte nelle Alpi flyover. The crew got away without consequences, fortunately, but the ambulance was destroyed and was scrapped. In October it will be replaced by a new vehicle. —
