Extreme Weather Causes Chaos in Mainland China
Voice of Hope, February 23, 2024
Comprehensive report by our reporter Li Hui
The recent extreme weather in mainland China has caused a wave of chaos, with various regions experiencing unprecedented conditions. In Suzhou, located in southeastern China, the low temperatures led to viaducts freezing and hundreds of vehicles crashing into a pile, resulting in injuries to nine people. Additionally, the Shanghai subway contact line was suspended due to ice, and growers’ vegetable greenhouses collapsed due to freezing rain. In southwest China, mountain fires broke out simultaneously in Guizhou, Guangxi, and Yunnan.
Cold weather has gripped the Southeastern region of China, with a large-scale accident occurring on the Xinggang Street elevated section of Suzhou Industrial Park. More than 100 vehicles collided due to icy roads, resulting in traffic police officers being injured. The Suzhou Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow warning signal for road icing, impacting traffic safety. Similarly, Zhejiang and Shanghai faced freezing rain and hail, affecting transportation and agriculture in the region.
In southwest China, mountain fires have ravaged at least 25 areas in Guizhou Province, with wildfires burning day and night. Despite the extensive destruction, the Chinese Communist Party’s official media remained silent on the issue, prompting local residents to seek help online. The fires in Guizhou, Guangxi, and Yunnan have caused immense damage to forests, homes, and livestock.
As the situation unfolds, concerns have been raised about the unusual coincidence of extreme weather events occurring simultaneously across different regions. Traditional Chinese beliefs suggest a connection between celestial warnings and human actions, underscoring the need for urgent action in response to these disasters.
