The Deputy Deputy Attorney General for Human Rights, Javier Sarmiento, denounced that many children from Acandí are abandoning their studies to work as coyotes or in economies related to the massive passage of migrants through the municipality towards the Darién Gap, Central America and the United States.
Tempted to achieve a high income, they leave the classrooms and dedicate themselves to guiding migrants through the jungle, carrying their suitcases or selling them products or services.
So far in 2024, more than 60,000 migrants have been registered in Acandí.
