Actor Nicolas Caeyers tried for raping underage boys: “Debates passed peacefully” (Leuven)

Leuven –

Actor and influencer Nicolas Caeyers (31) appeared in person in the Leuven court on Tuesday. Caeyers gained fame through his roles in Wittekerke and the Ketnet series Galaxy Park. He also achieved success on TikTok. That all came crashing down in early October when it came to light that he had raped several underage boys in his twenties. The debates were held behind closed doors on Tuesday.

Anyone who talked about Nicolas Caeyers before October 2023 was probably having a conversation about his acting performances in Wittekerke or Galaxy Park. Those who were more informed might know the actor from TikTok. There he collected millions of likes with, among others, the character ‘Sabine’. That changed when a dark side of his life emerged. In October it emerged that he had raped two underage boys, and a third was later added.

Nicolas Caeyers’ first victim remained silent for eight years. He was barely thirteen years old when Caeyers approached him via social media. At that time the actor was 22 years old. The two met via Snapchat and Instagram, which quickly led to sex. The teenager felt forced to do the deed and broke off contact.

No complaint

He filed a complaint in 2022. In the investigation that followed, the police found another minor victim, but he did not want to file a complaint. Caeyers must also answer for these facts, because as a minor someone cannot legally consent to sexual acts. In the run-up to the trial, someone else registered as a civil party.

So on Tuesday there were two victims in court, together with the influencer himself. Caeyers walked into the correctional session with a nod, but he did not want to respond. After the hearing, his lawyer took a small moment. “The debates went smoothly,” says An-Sofie Raes. “We await the court’s ruling and do not wish to comment further.” The actor agreed with his lawyer’s ruling. The verdict will be pronounced on February 13. More will then become known about the nature of the facts.
