Yellow Snow Warning Issued by Central Meteorological Observatory

Yesterday, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow snow warning, forecasting heavy snowfall in various parts of China. It is expected that until 14:00 today, there will be heavy snowfall in parts of northern Shaanxi, southeastern Shanxi, southern Hebei, Shandong, Henan, northern Anhui, western Hubei, and eastern Tibet. Southern Hebei, southern Henan, and other areas have already experienced heavy snowstorms, with new snow depths reaching up to 12 centimeters in some places.

The China Weather Network reported strong red and orange radar echoes in several locations in Henan Province, including Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Xuchang, and Pingdingshan. Sleet, snow, freezing rain, and even thunder and lightning were observed in these areas. Henan is expected to be one of the core areas affected by heavy snowfall, with southern Henan experiencing heavy snowstorms.

The snowfall has forced the closure of many scenic spots and the suspension of high-speed trains. The Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area in Shaanxi, the Maijishan Scenic Area, and several other scenic spots have been closed due to the weather conditions, and visitors are advised to plan their itineraries accordingly.

In Hubei, the cold wave is moving southward, bringing strong convection, cold wave strong winds, and low-temperature rain, snow, and freezing weather. Some scenic spots, such as Xiangyang Jiutian Xuannv Scenic Area, Lion Cave, Lover’s Spring, and Wudang Mountain Taihe Cableway, have also been temporarily closed.

Furthermore, road sections in multiple provinces, including Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Anhui, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Xinjiang, have been closed due to snowfall and icy roads. Additionally, train services have been affected, with China Railway Wuhan Bureau Group Co., Ltd. planning to suspend some trains in order to ensure passenger safety. Guangzhou Railway has also suspended a total of 56 trains passing through central and southern Henan, northern Anhui, Hubei, and northern Hunan.
