In Cúcuta, the lieutenant of the National Police, Carlos Contreras, a native of Aguachica, south of Cesar, who served as commander of the Betania station, metropolitan area, was murdered.

Apparently, the uniformed man was killed in the middle of a chase. First versions indicate that two criminals involved in a robbery shot repeatedly at a patrol of the institution. These events happened on Tuesday, May 7.

In the midst of the reaction, Contreras Manosalva was hit and died immediately as a result of the gunshots. Also injured in the shooting was patrolman Holman Farid Díaz Hernández, who was driving the patrol car in which they were traveling.

It was also learned that the criminals were injured in the middle of the shooting and after being transferred to a care center in Cúcuta, they were captured.

The director of the National Police, General William René Salamanca, gave instructions for three days of mourning for the death of the young man in uniform. “We condemn with the greatest vehemence the crime of Second Lieutenant Carlos Eduardo Contreras Manosalva, perpetrated at kilometer 9 of the road in the municipality of Los Patios (Norte de Santander), where patrolman Holman Farid Díaz Hernández was also injured.”
