The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, inspected the progress of work in rehabilitating, modernizing and maintaining Atbara Airport, to make it international in accordance with the required specifications.

During his visit to the Nile River State, Al-Burhan directed the Civil Aviation Authority to include the largest possible number of airports in the list of international airports, and to redouble efforts to open the airport during this year, as it is a strategic project that achieves internal and external interests.

Al-Burhan stressed the need for the airport specifications to be consistent with the principles and rules in force in the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The proof was the progress of work in the new terminals and the rehabilitation of the runway with the required specifications and air navigation devices at the airport, in a way that enhances incoming and outgoing operations to meet the country’s needs in all fields.
