Judge Abdul Wahab Qatran announced a hunger strike in his detention at the Security and Intelligence Service in Sanaa, starting this morning, Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Judge Qatran’s son, Muhammad, said that his father announced a hunger strike starting today (the first day of Eid al-Fitr) in protest against the injustice and tyranny being practiced against him, represented by obstructing the progress of his case and not adjudicating it.
Muhammad Qatran indicated that his father’s case file had previously been referred to the criminal prosecution, which in turn rejected the file referred to it by the Security and Intelligence Service due to the lack of sufficient evidence and its lack of jurisdiction over all of the charges they attributed to him in the file.
Judge Qatran was arrested after his home was raided on April 2, 2024, and searched, in violation of the Judicial Authority Law, which requires lifting immunity from judges.
